* About this Blog: Blog maintenance kinda stuff * Blue: Blue is our middle child. Yes, that's really his name. He entered our home as our foster son in November 2007. We nicknamed him Blue because of his big, blue eyes. When it came time to adopt him two years later we couldn't imagine naming him anything else. Blue is a Dennis the Menace type, "wide open," as some of my friends like to say. But he makes me laugh. A lot. And he's a terrific snuggler. *Birthday Parties: I'm one of those mom's when it comes to birthday parties. I believe kids parties should have themesand that there should be all sorts of fun and silly things that go with that theme. And hopefully, after each party I'll be able topick myself up off the floor and tell you about what I did, so you can borrow my ideas if you want to. * Critters: We have a critter, his name is Gus and he's a sweetheart black lab. Living in Florida, I do not doubt we'll have encounters with all sorts of other critters as well. And it so doesn't help that I have a bizarro phobia of lizards.*Faith: We're Christians. We're church goers. We have opinions and musings relevant to Christianity and church going. * Faydra: That would be me. Your blog author. Native Floridian and beach lover. Christ follower. Wife to Kevin. Mom to Kaden, Blue and Toby. Fragile X carrier. Sometimes writer. Sometimes cook. Big time reader, picture taker, and dreamer.*Food: We're one of those families that eats around the dinner table, tv off, stuff I actually cooked. We buy organic foodwhen we can. Local when we can. I do some gluten free baking. I'm happy to share recipes. * Fostering / Adoption: We've fostered and we've adopted. And we love these communities. * Fragile X Syndrome: A definition from the National Fragile X Foundation - (FXS), the most common cause of inherited mental impairment. This impairment can range from learning disabilities to more severe cognitive or intellectual disabilities. (Sometimes referred to as mental retardation.) FXS is the most common known cause of autism or "autistic-like" behaviors. Symptoms also can include characteristic physical and behavioral features and delays in speech and language development. I have the pre-mutation and my youngest son has the full mutation.* Go, Gators! The hubs and I are alumni. That's where we met. * Holidays: We're Christians and we're North Americans so pretty much what you'd expect. * In the Trenches: When I'm deep in the chaos of all-things-mommy * Just Sayin': My two cents on... I guess we'll see!* Reading: Kafka said, "A book must be the ax for the frozen sea within us." Yes! I read and I want you to read. Sometimes I'll want you to read what I'm reading. * Kaden: Our oldest kiddo. We met him when he was 11 months. We were able to bring him home from Russia when he was 16 months. (Two different trips) That was in 2005. He had severe delays and health issues in the beginning and we are still working through speech delays and we're gluten free with him but he's an easy-going, fun-loving kid who's also the best reader in his kindergarten class! * Kevin: The hubs. Love him so much. Tampa native. Gator alum with a degree in chemical engineering. After about five years of a career in that field he quit his job to go back to school and get a degree in aviation to pursue his God-planted dream of being a missionary pilot. Oh, and he's super handy around he house! * Mommy Questions: I'll pose 'em, you pose 'em, we'll all answer 'em * Photo of the Day: I'm kinda addicted to my camera. The goal will be to post a picture a day about our day to day. Oh, but probably only weekdays! And if there's already a post with lots of pictures than I'll skip this. * Toby: Our youngest son, a God-planned surprise. I didn't know I needed a Toby but I SO needed a Toby. Easy pregnancy. Not the easiest labor, but I achieved my goal of birthing him at home with a midwife. He has the sweetest smiles. He can be a total grump. I'm totally smitten.
