I recently was blessed with the opportunity to fly a group of people from a church in Iowa to Cap Haitien. To those of you that are familiar with my job, you're thinking - "Isn't that what Kevin does every week?" You would be right except that this trip required me to spend three nights in Cap Haitian.
I'm not going to use this post to detail that trip. Instead, I'm going to talk about an orphanage I was blessed to be able to visit.
This orphanage rests on about 10 acres outside of Cap Haitien and is called IDADEE. It stands for Initiative, D'Aide, De developpement, D'Encadrement, D'Enfant. You'll have to ask someone else to translate that for you.
This orphanage was the dream of Remy Fils-Aime - a man who grew up in an orphanage and dreamed of opening something better someday. He, along with other former orphans, are responsible for IDADEE.
We weren't there long - but were there long enough to get some little Haitian orphan lovin'.
There is a gorgeous chapel being built that will serve the people around the property. Bible studies and church service will be had there.
It was a great experience to see such a wonderful orphanage being built by former orphans and run by former orphans. This is a serious success story in a country without enough of them.
